Welcome to my Bluebird Visitor

        Blue Bird Visitor

While painting in my studio I noticed a consistent visitor came to my window. A little cobalt blue bird visited from time to time. After a bit of food added to on the sill the visits became frequent. I study this sweet little bird as though hypnotized. The colors shimmer in the sunlight. I have become mesmerized by the cerulean, indigo & periwinkle colors in its feathers. Little Blue is the name I gave to my visitor. As I attempt to recreate the colors of its feathers onto canvas my little blue flies away.

After a bit of research I believe Little Bird is a male Indigo Bunting. The website allaboutbirds.com shows this pretty bird breeds here in the summer. They “sing from treetops, shrubs, and telephone lines all summer. And are attracted to backyards with thistle or nyjer seed. While perching, they often swish their tails from side to side. Fairly solitary during breeding season”1. This explains why he would perch on the sill of my studio and swish his tail. I plan to research more about nyier seeds in order to attract him again.

This little fluffy bird is still in progress and not yet added to my website.
